You might think I’m being too harsh, but the truth is I’ve fallen into the trap of trying to convince myself that I love my boyfriend because of the way he acts. If we are talking about the kind of things you tell yourself to feel loved for, then there is a very fine line between being a good boyfriend and being a good boyfriend who wants to be a good boyfriend.
I know Im going to say this more than once, but I think it’s important to put yourself in the position of your partner to see if you can be honest. Im not saying you need to be a good boyfriend, Im not saying you need to be a good partner, Im not saying you need to be a good friend. Im saying you need to be a good person.

The problem with being honest about something is that there are often consequences. For example, if you lie to someone about the reason that you’re up in the morning, you will probably have to deal with a lot of stress and disappointment. Conversely, if you dont lie to your family about something you think is so important, they will probably just think you’re being irrational.
