YashMy cat, Niv, is a great example of the ways our body responds to the same kind of stimuli that we are exposed to: food, water, and the general environment, all of which are crucial for our survival. But, there are also other ways our cat responds to these stimuli.
For example, wombats are sensitive to light, so they will often curl up in the sun to shut out the light. They also seem to have a natural aversion to water, and are sensitive to the scent of human excrement. As for the idea of them as pets, they’re generally not much of a threat to most people, but they can be a nuisance when you’re out in public or in a dark shop.
I had two wombats as pets. They had a good home, but they didn’t need any more. I always thought of wombats as cute and cuddly when I was growing up, but once I had them I realized that their cuddles were really a form of torture. If you don’t understand that, it can be tough to keep them in a cage in the basement because you won’t know what to do to them.

I don’t think you can really say that there is no bond between pet and owner, unless you are going to use your pet to attack the owner. But it is really cool, because it makes you not have a pet.
In a similar way, the wombats in the wombats movie have a bond with their owners. They are constantly talking to each other, they are always eating, drinking, and being cute, and they are constantly having sex. They have a very strong bond with their owners, but it isn’t the same sort of bond that you would think would exist.
Yes you are right, they are just pets. They are basically just “we are so cute and we love you.” But yes, they are much more than that for a lot of people. I am sure there are a lot of people out there who would rather have a pet than not have one.
